Heartbroken is kind of a funny term. People often associate heartbreak with being broken up with. But, I don’t think it is like that often. You get have your heart broken by many things. A TV show can break your heart. A game can break your heart. Your sports team losing an important game can break your heart. Your pet can break your heart. You’re parents, your family history can break your heart. A former lover that bitterly hates you, who you want to still be friendly with, can break your heart. A friend can break your heart..

I’ve struggled a lot internally with what people to think about me. I always wanted to be friends and have a mutual love with everyone because that’s what made me happy. There have been people who didn’t want anything to do with me and I knew I didn’t to anything wrong, yet I still couldn’t help but feel bad because they didn’t like me. It’s kind of funny how much I’ve stressed about it, honestly. I’ve worked on it, though. And over the years I’ve learned something . I used to struggle with this idea at first, but it’s an irrefutable fact that I had to accept: No matter how much good you try to do by people, not everyone is going to like you. That’s just the way it is. That doesn’t mean there’s anything wrong with you. Or them even. It’s just the way things can be sometimes and that’s okay. It’s perfectly okay.

Through all of that I learned a valuable lesson. The essential fact of life which is: True happiness comes from within. If you love yourself first and care about yourself first, you needn’t fill that hole in your heart with external stimuli-whether it comes from meaningless relationships, symbiotic friendships, or just drugs and alcohol. Breakups happen, friends leave, dugs and alcohol run out and your back at square one. Self love, however, is eternal. You’re worth it.

Never ever, ever give up.

The sun will shine again tomorrow, and he’ll greet you with a smile :)

Very wise words coming from Wilson here.
